WE MADE IT !!!

Well Oxfam Trailwalker is all over for another year and WE MADE IT!!!

The recently renamed "Team Eden-SIS" started at Brooklyn in the 0830 group on Friday 27 August and after 26 hours and 53 minutes of almost continuous walking all four of us crossed the finish line 100 km away in Mosman at just before 1130 Saturday 28 August.  This was more than 3 hours ahead of the target we set ourselves so we were ecstatic.  More importantly though we absolutely blew away our $5000 fundraising target - as at today we have raised almost $8150 for the fantastic work that Oxfam performs around the world.  Thank you so much to all of our friends, family and business associates who have contributed so generously to this worthy cause.  Special thanks to the Eden Social Club which donated $2500 and to Siemens IT Solutions & Services (the recent new owners of Eden Technology) for matching that amount.  We were also very grateful to the two Anonymous donors who very generously contributed $500 each - whoever you are a huge thank you from us and Oxfam. 

While we did the walking we can not understate the huge role played by our Support Crew of family and friends (Julie, Lynda, Gina, Kirrilee and Ian in particular).  From Julie's work on our blog and as Fundraising Director to the fabulous support on the day from Lynda organising our checkpoint stops to the fantastic food and encouragement from Gina, Kirrilee and Ian - a huge thank you - we couldn't have done it without you.

We all came through the Event with only very minor injuries - just a few small blisters and some sore muscles.  When we look at the stats below we are very pleased at the consistent pace we managed to set.  As you will see, we had a few a breaks to refuel, change socks and shirts and grab a short rest, but otherwise we set a pace of better than 4.0 km/hr on all but 1 leg and even hit 5.0 km/hr on the last leg - must have been the thought of Ian's Rendang, a cold beer and a warm soaking bath!
