2 July 2011 - Macfarlane Reserve to End

The time has come to get serious with some longer walks and with the prospect of a nice sunny day, what better way to finish a walk than with the section along Balmoral Beach?  So it was off to find Macfarlane Reserve (the replacement checkpoint to Kambora School) ready for a leisurely 0700 start.

We progressed well through Fangorn Forest and alongside the creeks to arrive at Davidson Reserve under the Roseville Bridge in just over 2 hours.  After a quick refuel we pushed on alongside Bantry Bay towards Ararat Reserve to arrive in a quite credible 1:30 before heading off towards the Spit Bridge.  For the first time we had to wait a short time while the bridge opened to let boats through.  Continuing on the Balmoral Beach we arrived just as the populous were heading back from their morning coffee and getting ready for lunch.  It was great to see so many people out enjoying the winter sunshine.  When we arrived at the end point we had covered to 30kms in 5:42hrs so we were well satisfied.
